Plan to boost collections - without losing patients
Article Abstract:
The effective collection of accounts depends on developing a good relationship with the patient and clearly explaining his or her financial obligations and the physician's payment policies. Accounts should be paid within 90 days, because collection is much less likely later. Practices that fail to collect during this period may build up a large number of unpaid accounts that can make collection activities even less efficient. In economically depressed areas, it is wise to accept partial payment and set up a realistic payment schedule for the patient.
