The continuous increase in the cost of obtaining medical education in the US has resulted in an enormous increase in the average indebtedness of graduating students and a decrease in applications to medical schools. Medical schools that could increase grants and scholarships, develop subsidized loan programs and prevent the rising cost of tuition would be able to reduce the debts of their students.

National trends in embryo-transfer practice patterns and in outcomes after the use of assisted reproductive technology, is assessed. There were consistent decreases in both the number of embryos transferred per cycle and the percentage of pregnancies with three or more fetuses.
