Planning for action
Article Abstract:
The main types of obstacles to change in professional nursing practice in the UK are personnel, cultural, resourcing and organizational. Fragmentation among different professional groups and hospital systems may hamper change, as may conflicting priorities. The Promoting Action on Clinical Effectiveness programme run by the King's Fund has highlighted that there are many complex issues associated with changing professional practice. The best approach is to assemble good evidence to back up the elements of the change process.
