Postmenopausal diagnosis of testicular feminization
Article Abstract:
A case is presented of testicular feminization that was not detected until the woman was postmenopausal. This condition often occurs when male children do not respond to male sex hormones. She was a 67-year-old woman who was seen by a physician for lower abdominal swelling and pain. She had never had a menstrual period and never conceived a child even though she was married. A pelvic exam revealed that she did not have a uterus although she did have a pelvic mass. Her blood testosterone levels were also elevated. Genetic analysis revealed that she was genetically a male. The mass was eventually diagnosed as a Sertoli cell adenoma, which was removed.

Establishment of breast cell cultures and lines from peoples of African origin
Article Abstract:
Breast cancer cells taken from a black woman have been established in tissue culture. This should prove useful in determining if characteristics and treatment responsiveness vary according to race. Evidence suggests that this may be the case. Researchers cultured cells from tumors removed from black women having breast cancer surgery and from healthy women having breast-size reduction surgery or from the breastmilk of nursing mothers. Culture attempts succeeded in cells taken from one black woman. This culture has been maintained for over one month.
