Implementation of the Tomlinson Report on London, England health services will involve relocating nurses from hospital to community care. Expanded nursing services will include treatment of minor ailments, screening, health promotion in community locations and home treatment of the elderly and disabled. Nurse retraining and psychological support will be necessary to facilitate transition. Services should expand rapidly to prevent a shortfall.
