Pressure relief: a guide to what is on offer
Article Abstract:
Pressure-relieving cushions can greatly reduce the risk of patients who spend long periods of time sitting in a chair or wheelchair developing pressure sores on their buttocks, trochanters and sacrums. Pressure-relieving seating ranges from good-quality foam or fibre-filled cushions to sophisticated active alternating pressure-relief systems. Cushions that are sensitive to body temperature, cushions filled with fluid clay and dry flotation systems based on interconnecting rubber air-inflated cells are among the more sophisticated types of pressure-reducing seating.

There should be greater public awareness of the symptoms and risk factors associated with gynaecological cancers. Any cancer is distressing for the patient, but gynaecological cancers can have a particularly devastating long-term effect in that they may alter a woman's view of her own sexuality. The risk factors, symptoms, investigations, treatments and prognoses for breast cancer, cervical cancer, ovarian cancer, uterine cancer and vulva cancer are presented.
