Principles of Doppler
Article Abstract:
A hand-held Doppler ultrasound probe can play a useful role in assessing whether a patient is suffering from aterial disease. However, there are certain limitation to this type of aterial assessment. For example, there may be a very high ankle:brachial pressure index (ABPI) in certain patients, even if there is a significant degree of arterial disease, while a low ABPI does not necessarily mean that vascular surgical treatment will be required.
