Mental health promotion in high-risk groups: identifying vulnerable groups and providing effective interventions can prevent mental health problems
Article Abstract:
Nurses in settings other than mainstream mental health services can effectively contribute to preventing mental health problems. It is recognised that preventive strategies are needed, but health care provision tends to focus on mental health 'cases'. Preventive intervention would increase the pressures on mental health care professionals, and strategies would require a consistent approach to determining those at risk of developing mental health problems.
