Private sector nurse training set to grow
Article Abstract:
The drug company Lilly UK offers three days of training, ongoing mentorship, a web based audit tool programme with IT support, resource packs and patient education materials as a part of Department of Health scheme to develop well-being nurses to care for the physical needs of patients with severe mental health illnesses. Although free training from a drug company may not sit easily with all nurses, mental health nurses were largely pragmatic about the move claiming it was the only way that psychiatric patients would get their physical health needs addressed.
