Prostate gland enlargement: treatment options grow
Article Abstract:
More than 50% of men over age 50 suffer from an enlarged prostate gland, also known as benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). The most common symptom of this condition is frequent urination. Treatment options include medication, surgery, laser therapy, balloon dilation and stents.

Noncancerous enlargement of the prostate gland is the most common health problem for men over the age of 60. The standard treatment is a surgical procedure called transurethral resection of the prostate. Alternative treatments use stents, lasers and new medications.
