Providing a helping hand in a crisis: Psychiatric liaison services are unusual in that they meet the needs of people admitted to hospital with medical problems
Article Abstract:
Liaison psychiatry is a relatively new service in the growing number of specialties within mental health services that deals with the mental health needs of patients with medical problems who do not fall under the cares of mental health services. Russell Jones, a psychiatric liaison team manager at Conwy and Denbigshire NHS Trust, believes that the new role gives nurses the opportunity to meet a lot of other professional and learn how to deal with crisis.
