Pulse oximetry

Pulse oximetry is used frequently by many nurses in a wide variety of clinical areas to complement patient assessment as it only measures haemoglobin oxygen saturation. Pulse oximetry uses two light sources and a detector to measure color difference between oxygenated and deoxygenated haemoglobin.

Administering a suppository
Article Abstract:
The procedure and skill required in the administration of suppositories, a tool to manage constipation are discussed. Although there are very low risks associated with suppositories, they can be detrimental or even fatal if administered in the wrong circumstances.

A new technique that can be employed for measuring the pH level of the gastric fluid inside an individual's body is presented. The approach has proved to be extremely useful in confirming the position of feeding tubes that are placed in the stomach.
