Reducing the risk of catheter-related urinary track infection
Article Abstract:
The different methods used to reduce the risk of urinary catheter-associated infections are discussed. Assessing the need for catheterization, selecting the appropriate catheter type, inserting the catheter using an aseptic technique and proper management of the catheter can reduce the risk of urinary tract infection when the catheter is inserted.

How foot and mouth disease affected a rural continence service
Article Abstract:
The continence service covering Carlisle and District and Penrith and Eden Primary Care National Health Service trusts was severely disrupted by the outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease in the area. It proved very difficult to deliver continence pads to rural areas, and some nurses were unable to travel to work.
