Relative comfort
Article Abstract:
A survey has investigated attitudes of nurses and relatives to bereavement care in accident and emergency departments. Data was acquired through interviews and questionnaires. Most nurses expressed inadequacy in dealing with relatives. Relatives did not always understand the offered information. Most wanted to view the deceased but felt the environment inappropriate. All gained relief from talking to the nurses. Recommendations include nurse training in bereavement care, information leaflets for relatives, a quiet room for the deceased and relatives and a link worker to provide support.
