Out of sight
Article Abstract:
Multi-vitamins are being given to the Cuban population to stem the spread of an eye disease. The multi-vitamins will cost about $17 million annually. So far, about 33,000 Cubans have been affected by the disease, which starts with weight loss, arm and leg pain, and fever. Visual acuity gradually lessens one-four weeks after onset. One third of patients have long-term vision impairments. The WHO wants the world to provide hospital equipment and vitamin supplements worth $5 million to stem the epidemic.

The life of Riley
Article Abstract:
Men are being encouraged to drop in to the newly formed Drumchapel Health Centre in Glasgow, UK, to find out about issues concerning men's health. The centre has been set up on a trial basis to discover if it can help prevent potential health problems associated with, for example, excessive drinking, drugs and depression. The men of the area do not readily seek advice from their doctor, and it is hoped that this centre will provide a more informal setting to encourage visits.
