Revolutionary breast cancer treatments under study
Article Abstract:
Breast cancer researcher Nancy Ellen Davidson believes that emerging treatments, combined with traditional therapies, could transform breast cancer management. In comments at an American Medical Assn media briefing, she discussed new diagnostic and therapeutic methods. By using a blue dye or a radioactive tracer, she noted, researchers can identify a breast lesion's most significant draining node, which can make the removal of multiple lymph nodes unnecessary.

Here comes the sun
Article Abstract:
Skin cancer is occurring in epidemic proportions in 1997. Melanoma is the major cancer that occurs in people between 20 and 30 years of age. Several factors that may have caused the increase in skin cancer include heredity, the decrease in the ozone layer of the atmosphere and an increase in the use of tanning salons. People at the highest risk for skin cancer are individuals with fair skin, with 50-100 moles and with excessive sun exposure.
