Ed Lester is the first chief executive of NHS Direct, which has become a special authority putting the organization in a powerful position of being legally responsible for delivering its own services and employing 3,000 staff. This organization has provided nurses with an ever increasing set of career opportunities and plans to expand its workforce by 50 percent.

Article Abstract:
Nurses have not used information technology as an organizational tool. The government plans to implement information technology in the health care department. The nurses should become computer literate and relate information technology to patient care.
