Risky liaisons: what is the relationship between oral conditions and nonoral diseases?
Article Abstract:
More data have become available on the association between oral conditions and nonoral diseases, particularly heart diseases. The need to construct risk models and identifying markers that accurately predict the development of diseases remains as epidemiologic studies using odds ratios (OR) and relative risks (RR) are insufficient. Oral health care professionals have to ascertain the association of oral and nonoral diseases before predicting the health of patients.

Scope for practice
Article Abstract:
Determining the best oral health for a patient depends largely on certain factors that include the patient's physical and psychological health as well his expectations. To understand this, every dentist needs to follow predetermined algorithms and thereby initiate a plan of action. Acceptance in dental schools is entirely based on analytical and scholastic achievements and not necessarily on dexterity and hand-eye co-ordination.
