STI explosion demands urgent action
Article Abstract:
Cases of STIs have doubled in the UK in the last 10 years, causing nurses to demand that priority be given to sexual health in the national health agenda. As demand for sexual health has increased so have waiting times, causing delays in diagnosis and treatment, which in turn increases the risk of infections being passed to sexual partners.

A discussion is presented on the nurse's union membership, who feel that a third rise in subscription charges in three years of time is justified. Changes in the roles of nursing women and new pay system are the main reasons due to which the RCN union plans to raise the subscription charges.
