Initial reports from nurses and students about problems at North Lakeland Healthcare National Health Service Trust and the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford, England, were overlooked by managers. Those who had the courage to speak out were placed in danger of harassment and intimidation.

Measles epidemic in Ireland threatens mainland Britain
Article Abstract:
The low uptake of the measles, mumps and rubella vaccination in the Republic of Ireland has resulted in 1,376 cases of measles in the year to July 2000 compared with 81 in the previous year. The safety of the vaccination is discussed.

The recruitment of nurses on the islands off Great Britain is discussed. The benefits for nurses, such as higher rates of pay, greater autonomy and a relaxed life style, are described and the demand for new recruits is examined.
