Serum vitellogenin levels and reproductive impairment of male Japanese medaka (oryzias latpes) exposed to 4-tert-octylphenol
Article Abstract:
Researchers studied the effects of 4-tert-octyphenol (OP), an environmental estrogen, on the production of vitellogenin (VTG) and on reproductive impairment in male fish. Vitellogenin in male fish, induced by 4-tert-ocyphenol, caused an increase in abnormally developed embyros, the appearance of oocytes in some fish testes, fewer egg production in females fertilized by OP-exposed male fish, and a lower rate in the survival of embryos.

Induction of hyperplasia and increased DNA content in the uterus of immature rats exposed to coumestrol
Article Abstract:
The effect of the phytoestrogen coumestrol on ovariectomized rats is examined, focusing on determining the reasons for increased uterine weight in the absence of increased DNA content. Results indicate the activity of phytoestrogen coumestrol and natural estrogen estradiol is similar.
