Setting up a foot clinic
Article Abstract:
A pilot community clinic for people with diabetic foot ulcers has been established in a small market town in the Peak District of the UK. This has brought together a senior chiropodist, a tissue viability nurse and a diabetes specialist, and has offered a service for people unable or unwilling to travel to sessions at a main hospital. It was found that there was a considerable improvement in healing rates, and an extensive study is now to be undertaken into possible long-term outcomes.

Diabetic foot ulceration
Article Abstract:
A hydrocolloid dressing can be an appropriate treatment for some diabetic food ulcers. However, the dressing must be seen as only part of an overall treatment regime. Emphasis must also be given to pressure relief, control of infection and complete would debridement if full healing is to be achieved. The key approach must be to establish and then to remove the cause of the foot ulcer.
