Decline? What decline?
Article Abstract:
The decline in the quality of published works is the effect of consumer tastes and market forces. It has been widely believed that editors are to blame for the loss in quality of literary works. This is largely untrue because editors and publishers merely react to the buying tastes of the public. If there is indeed a decline, it is in the tastes of readers and not in available published works.
