Resolving infant sleep problems
Article Abstract:
Nurses can help parents resolve their child's sleep problems. A child learns appropriate sleep patterns because cues are in place which promote sleep. These cues include a bedtime routine and a regular place and posture. Children who are anxious about separation may exhibit behaviours which mitigate against these sleep cues, or children who obtain comfort from parents may not learn self-comforting techniques. Nurses can inform parents about several techniques which may help the child establish good sleep patterns.

Dying for a snooze: Sleep deprivation can have serious physical and psychological effects, from paranoia to an inability to carry out the simplest tasks
Article Abstract:
Sleep deprivation can accumulate, blurring the boundaries between normal sleep and wakefulness, with potentially devastating consequences. There is a close link between sleep and the immune system, according to Dotto, and Kreuger and Tott have linked sleep deprivation to loss of immunity. The accumulated deprivation, known as sleep debt can cause people to become less efficient.
