Smoking in China: Findings of the 1996 National Prevalence Survey
Article Abstract:
About 34% percent of Chinese smoke, according to a survey of 120,298 people from each of the 30 provinces of China. This is an increase of 3.4 percentage points from a similar national survey done in 1984. Sixty-three percent of the men smoked, compared to only 4% of the women. Only one-third knew that cigarette smoking was linked to lung cancer and only 4% knew it was linked to heart disease. Half of the non-smokers were exposed to passive smoke.

Fasting serum glucose level and cancer risk in Korean men and women
Article Abstract:
An attempt is made to assess the relationship between fasting serum glucose and diabetes as well as risk of all cancers in men and women in Korea. The findings reveal that elevated fasting serum glucose levels and a diagnosis of diabetes are independent risk factors for several major cancers and the risk tends to increase with an increased level of fasting serum glucose.
