Smoothing the journey home
Article Abstract:
A nurse describes the care pathway of a man involved in a motorcycle accident who fractured his tibia and fibula. Hospital care centered around a postoperative non-weightbearing regime requiring full-length axillary crutches. The patient was helped to follow the physiotherapist's instructions by nurses who supervised his recuperative care, focusing on occupational therapy, nutritional assessment and health education.
