So long, forklift cowboy - hello, safe operator
Article Abstract:
Only skilled operators are allowed to take part in forklift rallies. Contestants must have a spotless safety record and take a written safety test before they are considered. Such rallies, which range from local to international levels, are designed to display the operators' skill and expertise. Operators want to compete to display their skills and promote safety awareness, although winners normally receive money and trophies. The rally course is designed to test operators' skills and is not a speed test.

Deep fryers top workplace-burns list
Article Abstract:
The Colorado Dept. of Health has reported that 88% of accidents involving burns are a result of improper use of deep fryers. Such accidents are common in the case of older-type fryers since the user has to deal with hot grease. Newer types have built-in grease filters. For users of such old-model fryers, practical suggestions are given. These include avoiding the movement of the fryer when the grease is still hot and lifting the handle when the equipment still contains grease.
