Article Abstract:
It is possible to do a degree in herbal medicine at Middlesex University, the University of Central Lancashire, the University of Westminster, the College of Phytotherapy and at the Scottish School of Herbal Medicine. These courses are being accredited by the National Institute of Herbal Medicine. The courses last three or four years full-time but can also be done part-time or by distance learning. Applicants need two A-Levels, one of which is a science but experience will be taken into consideration. Trained herbalists can earn between 15,000-40,000 pounds sterling per year.

Nurse Helen Knot has worked as an outreach specialist in sexual problems and contraception for 11 years. She has taught her subject in a range of venues, including schools, prisons and a comedy event, and she has written a book on sexual health. Knox has a weekly session on the Internet where she fields questions from around the world on subjects ranging from ectopic pregnancy to penis shape and size. Knox uses street vocabulary, has a straightforward style, and finds it rewarding to give people information they had previously been too nervous to ask about.
