So you want to be an acupuncturist
Article Abstract:
A rise in demand for acupuncture therapy has lead to an increase in the number of people applying to train in the UK. Acupuncture is not available as a free treatment under the National Health Service (NHS) although several projects have been set up with NHS funding. Acupuncture is based on a traditional Chinese therapy which uses a holistic approach developed over 3,000 years of practice. The unlicensed acupuncture industry in the UK is overseen by the British Medical Acupuncture Society which has set up accredited courses for those wishing to train in the art.

Negotiating care roles
Article Abstract:
Recent research indicates that it is currently unusual for any negotiation of the care roles between paediatric nurses and the parents of children in hospital to take place. One of the key roles of the paediatric nurse is to assess the child's requirements and whether the family will be able to meet some or all of these. It is important to distinguish between the different types of care needed, and to recognise that parents may become very anxious about caring for a sick child.
