Social and economic dimensions of environmental policy: lead poisoning as an example
Article Abstract:
The public health response to toxic compounds such as lead has been inadequate because environmentally-based diseases are treated differently than infectious diseases. Environmentally-based diseases affect populations rather than individuals. Interests of corporations that need to use toxic compounds gain more political advantage than environmental and public health interests. Public health progress remains slow despite scientific evidence of deleterious effects of environmental damage.

Reckonitis: a cognitive deficit of social origin
Article Abstract:
Computations for disease incidence for populations across lifetimes are often inaccurate. An example is the common statistic that a woman has a one in nine chance of acquiring breast cancer. That statistic assumes the woman will live to be 85 years old but it is still based on faulty computational assumptions. A different formula for life trajectories should be used for computations of disease incidence and probability.

RECONDITIS: A MALIGNANT VARIETY OF OBSCURANTISM ASSOCIATED WITH PATHOLOGICAL DEFICIT OF COMMON SENSE
Article Abstract:
Models of breast cancer research and statistics should incorporate longevity as a potential risk factor. While some researchers argue that complicated formulas are necessary to account for all possible influences, a simpler formula relies on the fact that the longer a woman lives, the larger her exposure to developing the disease.
