Researchers have found that as many as 4,000 genetic diseases are caused by incorrect DNA sequence codes. Genetic factors have been discovered for such diseases as cystic fibrosis, asthma and breast cancer. Tests have been developed to determine risks, while gene therapy can help treat diseases.
