Spontaneous fetal loss caused by placental thrombosis in estrogen sulfotransferase-deficient mice
Article Abstract:
The ablation of the mouse Estrogen sulfotransferase (EST), encoded by SULT1E1 gene, that caused placental thrombosis and spontaneous fetal loss phenotype is described. This phenotype was associated with elevated free estrogen levels systematically and in the amniotic fluid, increased tissue factor expression in the placenta and heightened platelet sensitivity to agonist-induced activation ex-vivo.

Bone loss goes beyond estrogen
Article Abstract:
The role of follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), which is secreted from the pituitary gland is examined. When ovarian function declines at the menopause, the levels of the ovarian hormones inhibin, and later estrogen, decrease.
