Stem cells bank on ATM machine
Article Abstract:
Recessive mutations in the ATM gene cause ataxia telangiectasia, characterized by neurodegeneration, premature aging, cancer predisposition and immune defects. With the help of a membrane-permeable antioxidant, N-acetyl-L-cysteine, the long-term reconstituting potential of ATM stem cells could be recovered in vitro and in vivo.
