Local gene knockdown in the brain using viral-mediated RNA interference
Article Abstract:
The use of viral-mediated RNA interference (RNAi) to generate a specific knockdown of Th, the gene encoding for tyrosine hydroxylase, within midbrain neurons of adult mice, is elaborated. The results emphasize the utility of viral-mediated RNAi for rapid production and testing of new genetic disease models.

Astrocytes get in the act in epilepsy
Article Abstract:
The release of glutamate and other amino acids from a single astrocyte are induced by experimentally elevating intracellular calcium levels. The elevations in amino acids are associated with paroxysmal depolarization shift (PDS)-like epileptiform responses of neighboring neurons.
