Subarachnoid haemorrhage: the role of the specialist nurse
Article Abstract:
Patients who have suffered subarachnoid haemorrhage or brain haemorrhage need help to deal with common residual symptoms such as fatigue and low confidence. An initiative established in Salford, England, is designed to help prevent the incidence of psychological difficulties in recovery from subarachnoid haemorrhage or brain haemorrhage. This initiative involves patient follow-ups through a series of six home visits over a year, based on a home visit protocol. Working in a multidisciplinary team makes it possible to recognize, minimize and manage the difficulties experienced by these patients.
