Success of any structure lies in benchmarks to excellence
Article Abstract:
Physicians must strive for excellence in both quality of care and quality of service. Although structures in the medical profession are changing as group practices join managed care programs or are bought by bigger corporations, consumers/patients are still searching for quality care. The business and management aspects of a medical practice are discussed in relation to this emphasis on excellence. Capital, information systems, customer service and organizational engineering are focuses.

Bureaucracy hangs as millstone around our necks
Article Abstract:
The health care industry suffers from a bureaucracy that overloads physicians with paperwork and confuses patients with complex systems. Physicians must satisfy countless insurance company rules and managed care agency regulations when treating patients. Hospital and physician billing practices have become so complex that they are often confusing and prone to errors. Doctors now spend an average of 1/3 of their time filling out papers and attending committee meetings.
