Supervision registers and mental health problems
Article Abstract:
The medical profession and mental health charities expressed concerns about the introduction of supervision registers for people with severe mental illnesses. NHS Executive guidelines built on those set out in the Care Programme Approach (CPA). The aim was to determine those patients with the most serious forms of illness and ensure they received appropriate treatment.

Insomnia and mental health
Article Abstract:
Mental health is closely linked with sleep and wakefulness. The night-care nursing team can help patients suffering from insomnia in many ways. They can educate patients in the importance of a regular waking time and bedtime routine. Sleep deprivation leads to problems in learning, concentration and memory skills, as well as making patients lethargic and irritable.

Meeting needs through case management
Article Abstract:
A study of a social services case management team in Oxford reveals that case management may be no better than other social services for the long-term mentally ill. Case management involves a case manager assessing a patient's needs in the community, providing the required services and evaluating the service.
