Support surfaces - a technology review
Article Abstract:
There appears to have been little rigorous scientific evidence to validate the use of various bed support systems for patients with pressure ulcers. Scientific research evaluating patient benefit or cost-effectiveness does not seem to have caught up with technological advances in this field. The pressure physics between the patient and bed surfaces have been well described but tools to evaluate a patient's skin pressure have not been fully researched.

THE DEAD CAN STILL TEACH THE LIVING: THE STATUS OF CADAVER-BASED ANATOMY IN THE AGE OF ELECTRONIC MEDIA
Article Abstract:
The advent of technology-assisted education in the allied health fields has prompted medical sciences to reevaluate the need for cadaveric dissection in school curriculum. Technology assessment: analytical product research
Article Abstract:
The rise of managed care has led to a desire to evaluate many medical devices to determine whether they provide any benefit. The FDA does not require extensive testing of these devices and some physicians adopt technology without regard for its clinical effectiveness. Even if a technology is clinically effective, it may not have an adequate cost-benefit ratio.
