Tanning before transplant: Lancing the Langerhans cell
Article Abstract:
The ultraviolet radiations that prevent graft-verses-host disease (GVHD) in mice after transplantation of hematopoietic stem cell are studied. On the other hand, reports of ultraviolet (UV) irradiations that can deplete host Langerhans cells in mice are highlighted as it leads to replacement with donor stem cell that protects against GVHD in the skin.

Langerin is a natural barrier to HIV-1 transmission by Langerhans cells
Article Abstract:
Langerin is shown to prevent the transmission of human immunodeficiency virus-1 (HIV-1) by Langerhans cells (LCs). The analysis has shown that Langerin has acted as a natural barrier to HIV-1 infection and thus the strategies to combat infection must enhance, preserve or not interfere with Langerin expression and function.

Host-reactive CD8(super +) memory stem cells in graft-versus-host disease
Article Abstract:
A new subset of memory stem cells that persists throughout the course of graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) is identified. These memory stem cells have the key implication for understanding the pathophysiology of GVHD and developing new approaches for GVHD prophylaxis and therapy.
