'Test-tube' baby clinics on rise
Article Abstract:
More and more infertile couples are using in vitro fertilization as an attempt at having their own children. Clinics that specialize in this process are on the rise in the United States and there have been 70 pregnancies and 22 births by this means since 1980. There is concern among some physicians that there might be some in vitro fertilization being performed by physicians without the use of the many medical specializations that are needed to guarantee the best results. This could lead to legal and ethical problems that would harm an otherwise promising area of medical research.
