The art of positive drinking
Article Abstract:
An alcohol education service has been established in Dundee, UK, to help people with learning disabilities control their drinking without having to avoid pubs altogether. Some people with learning disabilities living in the community after a spell in hospital feel pressured to drink more than the recommended amount and many do not appreciate the physical and psychological problems that this can lead to. The training programme includes practical sessions in pubs to teach clients how to moderate their social drinking behaviour, for example by ordering low-alcohol or non-alcoholic drinks.

Drinking safely
Article Abstract:
Many accident patients who have been drinking are not classed as alcoholics and will probably not have received any advice on their drinking habits. This particular group of people will benefit from counselling by A&E staff, in an effort to prevent them from having any more drink-related accidents. Staff will counsel the patient while providing treatment, giving the patient the opportunity to admit that there is a drinking problem.
