Identifying poor symptom control in Parkinson's disease
Article Abstract:
Parkinson's disease is a progressive disabling disorder characterized by learned voluntary movements, such as bradykinesia and either rigidity or resting tremor or both and occurs in people of all ages but prevalence increases with age. Identifying poor symptom control and taking the appropriate action can significantly improve the patient's quality of life, thereby impacting on their carers and family.

Healing the whole person
Article Abstract:
A holistic approach to wound management encourages healing in intensive care patients. Nurses should be aware of physiological and psychological factors that influence healing. Excessive stress inhibits recovery. Inadequate oxygen encourages bacteria development. A balanced diet, effective pain management and infection control are essential. Adequate rest encourages skin and bone renewal.
