The courage of Alice
Article Abstract:
The treatment of osteosarcoma, a very malignant tumour usually found at the metaphyseal ends of long bones, begins with CT and MRI scans, followed by a bone biopsy, to determine the extent of the tumour. Chemotherapy, surgery, possible amputation and further chemotherapy are all involved, but treatment can often by made more bearable for the patient if analgesia is given regularly. The patient can also be encouraged to play a large part in his or her own care.
