The ecological approach in health promotion programmes: the views of health promotion workers in Canada
Article Abstract:
Researchers examined the attitudes of Canadian health promotion workers to the ecological approach in health promotion. Questionnaire responses from 117 health promotion workers throughout the Canadian provinces revealed a good awareness of the approach. Respondents generally felt that modifications of peoples' environment would be an effective approach to health promotion, and that interventions of this sort would attract professional support. However, many did not feel competent to use the ecological approach, and many appeared to hold values which were inconsistent with the approach.

To what extent does medical education concern itself with the medical students' own health?
Article Abstract:
The issue of the health of medical students is a key element in wider efforts to encourage medical schools in the UK to play a more active role in the teaching of health promotion. Research indicates that just under half of the courses forming the undergraduate medical curriculum cover medical students' own health, with particular attention being given to students' mental and emotional health. However, medical schools pay very little attention to students' physical health, mainly because students themselves have little interest in this subject.
