Gonadotropin-releasing hormone analog repairs reduced endometrial cell apoptosis in endometriosis in vitro
Article Abstract:
Drugs that mimic gonadotropin-releasing hormone may work by helping cells to undergo natural cell death. These drugs are used to treat endometriosis, a condition caused by the presence of uterine tissue outside the uterus. This abnormal uterine tissue does not undergo cell death as it normally should.

Gi protein activation of gonadotropin-releasing hormone-mediated protein dephosphorylation in human endometrial carcinoma
Article Abstract:
Gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) in cancerous uterine tumors may work with guanosine triphosphate-binding protein (G-protein) to promote malignant cell reproduction. Researchers analyzed cancerous tumors from the inner lining of the uterus for the presence of GnRH and its actions. G-sub-i protein was found to promote the ability of GnRH to interrupt normal protein synthesis and cell reproduction. Such an interruption may allow malignant growth to occur. Pertussis toxin inhibited GnRH interruption of normal protein synthesis. GnRH may follow a different signaling pathway in uterine tumors than it does in the anterior pituitary.

The failed suppression of serum estradiol level by gonadotropin-releasing hormone agonist in a case of pelvic endometriosis
Article Abstract:
A case is reported of a 42-year-old woman who did not respond to several drugs called gonadotropin-releasing hormone agonists. These drugs are used to suppress the production of estrogen because estrogen can stimulate some tissues, including the endometrium. Thus, these drugs are used to treat endometriosis, which is an abnormal growth of the endometrium. Despite treatment with several different gonadotropin-releasing hormone agonists, her estrogen levels remained normal.
