The hospital care of patients with diabetes
Article Abstract:
Nurses should check whether diabetics have been admitted with problems related to diabetes or not, and if so, whether they are are acute or chronic. Nurses need more training to care for these patients and the Diabetic Association has published a helpful leaflet. Medical staff should make in clear that they are incorporating the diabetes into the care plan, check the patient's routines with insulin and diet, tell the diabetes team, discuss meal time with patients, make sure only diabetes-trained staff do glucose tests and permit patients to have snacks by their bed.

Managing to empower?
Article Abstract:
Medical professionals can improve the health outcomes of people suffering from diabetes by being more sensitive in their approach to the care management of individuals. A full assessment must be made as to the best treatment for each person, such as tablets, insulin or a change of diet. A diabetes care team must recognize the importance of evaluating individual patient's needs and requirements when establishing a care routine.
