Article Abstract:
Doctors who do not know how to type or are reluctant to use computers should conquer their fears and install computer systems in their medical offices. A survey of 221 patients found that a solid majority believes the use of electronic records improves the quality of medical care and service they receive. Doctor assumptions that computers in an examination room or lobby make patients uncomfortable are false.

Article Abstract:
The American Medical Association (AMA) has collaborated with Hewitt Associates to issue the first nationwide survey of physicians' attitudes about the health plans with which they contract. The AMA/Hewitt 'Physicians' Health Plan Assessment Survey' was sent to 100,000 doctors in 22 markets on Oct 5, 1996. The survey results should be helpful to employers and health plans.
