The nurses should be aware of the health risks that occur during heatwaves and that they are able to swiftly take the appropriate action to protect people who have a high risk of heat-associated illness. Heat exhaustion symptoms are often non-specific and might be insidious in onset and some of their symptoms include fatigue, nausea, dizziness, irritability, headache and muscle cramps.

Guidance for preventing errors in administering blood transfusions

Article Abstract:

An unpublished study carried out by National Blood Service and Royal College of Physicians in 2003 states that nurses fail to carry out vital supervision signs in the early stages of nearly 50 percent of blood transfusions. Some common errors in administration of blood transfusion and suggestions to improve them are discussed.
