The quest for women's PPE

Article Abstract:

The increasing number of women in non-traditional jobs drew government attention towards production and availability of personal protective equipment or PPE. Although some companies, such as MSA Co, Safety Inc, and Lab Safety Supply Co, have already started the campaign, the supply is not enough to meet the demand, especially in the fire fighting sector. The fit of protective equipment is also a major issue since manufacturers generally produce them for male workers, making it difficult for women who are in hazardous occupations to find a comfortable and well-fitting safety gear and clothing.
