The scope of duty hour-associated residency structure modifications

Article Abstract:

The study is conducted to characterize the duty-hours associated modifications made to the educational and patient care structure of obstetrics and gynecology residency programs and the relationship of these modifications to residency program setting and size. It is found hat one third of universal programs have made modifications that have resulted in a decrease in the available clinical experiences for residents.

Midtrimester amniotic fluid matrix metalloproteinase-8 (MM-8) levels above the 90th percentile are a maker for subsequent preterm premature rupture of membranes

Article Abstract:

An attempt is made to determine whether midtrimester amniotic fluid levels of matrix metalloproteinase-8 were associated with subsequent preterm premature rupture of membranes. The overall distribution of midtrimester amniotic fluid matrix metalloproteinase-8 levels did not differ between women who had preterm premature rupture of membranes and those delivered at term.

Spontaneous epidural of the spine in pregnancy

Article Abstract:

Spontaneous spinal epidural hematomas are uncommon but progressive neurologic deficits that are associated with epidural hematomas can develop rapidly and require prompt treatment. A case of spontaneous epidural hematoma of the thoracic spine that complicated a term pregnancy is presented.
